Best Commercial Lawyer In Busselton
Braeden Watts
Commercial Lawyer
My job is as simple as two things. Advocacy and advice. Getting the right advice to you as soon as
possible so you know where you stand, and stepping in on your behalf to resolve what issues we can as your advocate. Those two sides of my job are extremely important for you and to me. Those two things can help you keep your sanity. Prior to legal practice I have worked in the construction, production, mining and education arenas. My breadth of experience in those areas helps provide a well-rounded view of real life issues that can arise. A legal issue can have greater dimensions than what is on the page. My experiences in the real world have helped shape my approach to legal practice. My practice spans Commercial, Estate Planning and Family Law, so my broad knowledge can help when a legal problem touches more than one area, which they often do. Having graduated from Murdoch University and College of Laws in 2013 and been admitted to the Supreme Court of WA and the High Court in 2014 and 2015 respectively, I have practiced as a lawyer in Bunbury since 2014.
Peter Ray
Commercial Lawyer
What often appears simple on the outside can be incredibly complex on the inside and as not all business
are the same, no single approach is right for every situation. Obtaining commercially savvy legal advice BEFORE you venture off into new projects will identify potential risks before they become actual problems. While the complex can be simplified with a bit of know-how, without proper guidance this is where most businesses get into trouble before they know it. I am a firm believer in the saying prevention is better than cure (although, Slee Anderson & Pidgeon does have a litigation department that can help if you get your business transactions off on the wrong foot). What I can now really enjoy about being a lawyer is being able to provide my clients with the benefit of 38 years experience in complex commercial legal transactions. While there will always be some legal issues I havent seen or dealt with before, I have seen or dealt with a vast range of them and I know where most of the traps exist and the benefits that can be obtained by doing things legally smart.

Commercial Law
Commercial law, also known as mercantile law or trade law, is the body of law that applies to the rights, relations, and conduct of persons and businesses engaged in commerce, merchandising trade, and sales. It is often considered to be a branch of civil law and deals with issues of both private law and public law. Commercial law includes within its compass such titles as principal and agent; carriage by land and sea; merchant shipping; guarantee; marine, fire, life, and accident insurance; bills of exchange, negotiable instruments, contracts, and partnership. Many of these categories fall within Financial law, an aspect of Commercial law pertaining specifically to financing and the financial markets. It can also be understood to regulate corporate contracts, hiring practices, and the manufacture and sales of consumer goods. Many countries have adopted civil codes that contain comprehensive statements of their commercial law.
What Do Commercial Lawyers Do?
Commercial lawyers will tend to have a specialist practice area (e.g. Intellectual Property) or industry focus (e.g. Technology, Media & Telecoms). The exception to this is in smaller firms, where the term simply refers to those whose clients are businesses rather than individuals. Commercial solicitor duties in the commercial legal sector is dependent on which area the lawyer works in, but much of the transactional work focuses on protecting each clients business interests by managing a wide range of risks. For example, this could mean interpreting the law to decide how to protect a client against liability for claims made on their website. Day-to-day work for a lawyer at a commercial law firm involves drawing up a wide range of commercial agreements and standard forms of words, such as disclaimers.
