Traffic Law

In common usage, traffic law is similar in meaning to the expression road traffic law. Whether as a car driver, by bicycle or as a pedestrian – almost every citizen is part of the road traffic every day or is confronted with it. Above all, traffic law is intended to ensure a functional and safe flow of traffic . It is also one of the two major fields of activity in transport policy .

Correspondingly, the traffic law extends to all places and paths that are available for use by everyone or only certain road users, depending on the situation. For example, only pedestrians are allowed to walk in pedestrian zones or only cyclists on cycle paths . This is regulated by certain laws and ordinances within the framework of traffic law.

What does traffic law consist of?

Not only does private law find its way into traffic law, but also public law is a part of it. At the top all those laws and ordinances that are relevant to traffic law have been explained. Now it is important to describe the important legal areas that are subject to traffic law and its legalities . These include traffic criminal law , traffic offense law and civil traffic law. Drunk driving is never a trivial offense, as it not only endangers the driver but also other road users. For this reason, alcohol driving counts as a particularly serious violation of traffic law and is therefore a criminal offense .

What are the most important laws from traffic law?

The most important regulations from traffic law are the Road Traffic Act (StVG), the Road Traffic Ordinance (StVO), the Vehicle Registration Ordinance (FZV), the Driving Permission Ordinance (FeV) and the Road Traffic Licensing Ordinance (StVZO) .
